Michele Y. Griffith, MD

Dr. Michele Y. Griffith aka “Dr. G” has over 20 years of experience practicing as a physician board certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine. She has been utilizing telemedicine to deliver healthcare since 2012. “ I became an early adopter of telehealth because I saw it as a means of increasing access to healthcare for the underserved and unserved. It has the potential to eradicate barriers and disrupt healthcare as we know it.” As an executive board member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), she advocates for the expansion of telemedicine and digital health globally and the increased representation of women in the field.

The first physician in her extended family, Dr. Griffith recalls the ambition of becoming a doctor since age twelve. “ I loved Science, English and the Performing Arts. It was either medicine or Broadway. I figured I had a better chance at medicine. Lol.”

Dr. Griffith has practiced in both the acute care and outpatient settings; the first half

of her career in hospitals and acute care facilities in Massachusetts, Maryland and North Carolina. Passionate about preventive care and the holistic management of patients, she switched her focus to outpatient care over 10 years ago. “ It was challenging  and fulfilling to manage seriously ill and critical patients. At some point I needed to align my work with my belief that I should use my medical knowledge to help people prevent the critical conditions I was treating.”  Dr. Griffith became certified in Holistic Medicine in 2008 and recently completed a business leadership program in Integrative Medicine at Duke University. An unrelenting patient advocate empowering her patients with the education and tools necessary to maintain wellness, she has worked as a Medical Director for a Fortune 100 company over the last 10 years. She collaborates with other  clinicians, wellness coaches, mental health counselors and disease management nurses to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients. Over the last few years, she has leveraged midlevel providers and telemedicine to implement a clinical blended healthcare delivery model to improve patient outcomes. A contributor to Global Telemedicine and eHealth Updates: Knowledge Resources, Dr. Griffith lectures internationally on Telemedicine/digital health.

Dr. Griffith attended Yale School of Medicine and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed an internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine/North General Hospital.  Dr. Griffith  completed an Internal Medicine residency at Harvard Medical School/Mount Auburn Hospital.

She was an undergraduate and Biological Basis of Behavior major at the University of Pennsylvania.

She is licensed to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Jamaica.

Preventive Screenings

A Biometric screening is cost-effective. It typically costs less than a physical exam. You can get it done in many places- not just a doctor’s office. You can get it done without a prescription. Many employers offer them for free. Retail clinics offer such testing as well.
